The building was erected in 1912 according to the official records but since the town hall was bombed out in the civil war, the current owner and his architect put the date closer to 1890. This is because it was designed by the renowned architect Jeroni Granell i Manresa (responsible for the glass ceiling of the Palace of Catalan Music) who was doing these types of villas in the early 1890’s.

Over the years, the property had been renovated to meet the standards of the day. For example, running water was added in the 1940’s. More recently, however, an incredible renovation was 2015). It is in no way inferior to modern luxury penthouses in terms of its facilities and views.

The property is sheltered from the effects of climate change and Catalonia is considered safe with respect to the Corona pandemic.

Layout

With its 900m2 of living space, the villa represents one of the largest residential buildings in Barcelona on one of the largest private plots in the city. The property has eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Everything is distributed on four floors and the tower.

When you enter your new home through the main entrance, you will first find yourself in the entrance hall adjacent to the living rooms. Two staircases lead you either to the other levels of the villa or to the observation tower – a trademark of the house; apparently the original owner, a Cuban merchant wanted his wife to be able to spot his ship as it returned to Barcelona.

If you don’t feel like climbing the stairs, you can, of course, use the house’s own elevator.

From the entrance on the left, three chambers are waiting for you. The majestic rooms appear exceedingly friendly thanks to the massive window front and high ceilings. A fireplace provides warmth on cool winter evenings.

The rooms are connected with a spacious terrace. Apart from the sheer size of the terrace and the infinity pool (15 x 5 m) is certainly a highlight of the outdoor area.

Do you get excited about debauched pool parties or do you prefer to swim a few laps in the morning to wake up? Both are possible here as the property enjoys total privacy and security within minutes of downtown Barcelona.

The professional, gourmet kitchen captivates with a charming retro style and is equipped with the absolutely best appliances available with the idea of high level entertaining or fantastic family gathering in mind. 

On the second floor, you can come to rest in one of the bedrooms. The largest of them is connected with another terrace as well as with a dressing room, a master bathroom and an office.

The latter impresses with a free-standing bathtub as well as an enormous wet room.

On the second floor, you will find three more guest rooms. Each is connected to a bathroom, and the largest is so enormous that you could play table tennis here.

Towering over the second floor is just the observation tower equipped with a bar. The room is overwhelming with an incomparable 360° view. 

In the basement, you have direct access to the spacious garage. Here you can comfortably fit two large cars. Below is a wine cellar where it is said that Luis Companys hid after the civil war ended. There is also a fitness area and a spa area (including sauna and hamas) full bath and another large bedroom located on this level as well.

In order not to drag this exposé too much into the length, we have not mentioned some adjoining rooms intentionally. But be assured that there are enough storerooms, laundry and service rooms. You will not want for anything. 

A plateau directly around the house provides ample parking for your guests‘ cars. Alternatively, you will find covered parking under the deck. Permission to build another covered parking space next to the service entrance is also available. In addition, there is a dilapidated garage (3 or 4 cars) at the bottom of the property, but this needs to be renovated. The cost of this is likely to be around €25,000.The property itself is three hectares in size. If you want to go for a long walk, you don’t even have to leave your property. Your neighborhood is quiet and friendly. You can let your children play soccer in the street; there are hundreds of kilometers of trails for hiking, walking or mountain biking.

The center of Barcelona is only 5 km away. All of the best international schools are a stones throw away. In the historic city center, you will discover a new facet of this picturesque city with every excursion.

You can reach the airport from your new property in about 20 minutes. Since the airplanes in Barcelona are not allowed to fly over the city, you will hardly notice anything from the planes. The new planned airport will make Barcelona a major international hub.

The marinas, as well as the beaches, are only 30 minutes away.

Are you a skier? The ski resorts of the Pyrenees (Andorra) are only two hours north of you. Or ski in Spain or Andorra in the morning and have a late lunch on the beach!
